Browns Edge Titans 27-24 on Last-Second Kick

Andre Szmyt's 32-yard field goal as time expired capped another Deshaun Watson game-winning drive and kept Cleveland atop the AFC North.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Andre Szmyt kicked a 32-yard field goal as time expired, and the Cleveland Browns beat the Tennessee Titans 27-24 on Sunday at Nissan Stadium.

It was the second straight week the Browns won on a last-second field goal, according to Bleacher Report, and the fifth fourth-quarter game-winning drive this season for quarterback Deshaun Watson, according to The Associated Press.

Tennessee tied the game at 24 on Tony Pollard's third touchdown with 58 seconds left, set up by Cam Ward's third-down completion to Carnell Tate. Watson answered with a quick drive that included a 36-yard catch-and-run by tight end Harold Fannin Jr., setting up Szmyt's winner.

Watson completed 25 of 36 passes for 308 yards with an interception and ran for a touchdown. Quinshon Judkins rushed 17 times for 96 yards and two touchdowns. Rookie KC Concepcion caught eight passes for 129 yards, and Fannin had six catches for 91 yards.

Pollard ran 25 times for 129 yards and tied his career high with three touchdowns. Ward went 19 of 29 for 163 yards with an interception.

The Titans scored twice on Pollard runs in the first quarter for a 14-0 lead. Cleveland pulled even in the second quarter, with Judkins' 5-yard run finishing a 78-yard drive, and Szmyt's 28-yard field goal as the first half ended gave the Browns a 17-14 lead.

Neither team scored in the third quarter. Szmyt missed a 43-yard try early in the fourth, and Joey Slye's 29-yard field goal tied the game at 17 with 8:41 to play. Watson's 9-yard touchdown run put Cleveland back in front with 4:34 left.

Cleveland's defense forced two turnovers. Denzel Ward intercepted Cam Ward, and Tony Adams recovered a fumble after Anthony Hill Jr. stripped Fannin. Maliek Collins also stopped Pollard on fourth-and-goal.

The Browns (5-2) share first place in the AFC North with Pittsburgh and play at the Steelers on Nov. 1. The Titans (1-6, 0-4 at home) visit the Cincinnati Bengals the same day.
